When you think about forniture of French empire you cannot miss this wonderful castle, in my opinion it has an impressive number of forniture. I study antiques and I as like a fish in the water. Moreover, if you think that the Minister of Napoleon,...More

I visited several chateaus in the area but loved the views from the garden at Valencay best - you can see very far out and it's so lush and green. The chateau itself is beautiful as well and has an interesting interior. We ate lunch...More

Not one of my favourite chateaux. Walk around the grounds very pleasant but the chateau is a bit stark, austere and impersonal. The gardens, if you can call them that, have fallen into, disrepair. Valencay village is pretty much the same - quite run down and...More

We enjoyed a good few hours wandering around this beautifully kept renaissance chateau with superb preserved furniture obtained from different countries. The Prince de Talleyrand enjoyed the finer things in life and also clearly enjoyed beautiful women. He charmed his way through life and benifited...More

The interiors are exquisitely furnished, mostly in empire style, but there are noteworthy earlier pieces too. Talleyrand, the great...More

It is listed as a must see in the Michelin guide for the Loire valley. One of the tower is being renovated, otherwise it is a nice castle, but not one of the outstanding ones. Parking is easy located just outside of the castle walls.

It was built in 1550; however, Talleyrand purchased it in 1803 and it is decorated as it was when he occupied it.
