If you've been to Europe, you've probably been to a lot of cathedrals. Honestly, this one is not as impressive as most I've been to. But there were no lines, so we popped in. Nice. But if you are there during tourist season, save your precious travel time for something else.

Impressive piece of architecture. At the time of visit they had the largest betlehem display I have ever seen. They allowed visit during Sunday mass which was surprising and beautiful experience with organ music. Entrance was free unlike St Paul's cathedral in London.

Anything words you can think of still cannot summarize how beautiful this church is. Do not pass this up.

An architectural master piece. You can learn so much once inside about how it was built. I didn't realise you could go up to the top as we didn't see the que until we left and walked around the side. There should be more signs or people there letting you know perhaps. Had a great time in beautiful surroundings.

Truly beautiful to look at! Pretty slow the day we went and those stairs to the top. Whew. But the view is gorgeous. It gives amazing views of the city. It's very interesting on the inside with little things here and there. Driving the round-a-bout was craziness. Looking back, wish I'd spent a little more time there but the rain... More

I visited a while back with my mother here. I definitely would recommend looking around as there is plenty to see inside, it's just a shame that my mother and I couldn't go to the stairwell to see Paris from above the Notre Dame but seeing the interior as well as the exterior design of this cathedral is something I... The Cathedral is definitely worthy visiting but being open for free usually around 11 AM it get overcrowded. We reached the church before 10.40 and the line for entrance were not too long, we spent inside circa 40 minuts, enjoying the painted glassed and we have been lucky enough to see the Holy Nativity . Defnitely worthy the visit but... More

Saw from river cruise along the seine in June 2012. Then in October 2013, rode by and stopped in front of Notre dame (our lady) during an evening bike tour of Paris. Many sights such as the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and Notre dame are illuminated in the evening. Located along the seine river. Massive building designed in gothic architecture style... More

Visiting Paris in and of itself is amazing, but being in the presence of this other-worldly cathedral was literally surreal. It was amazing signing the guest-book, and praying for our family members who have passed away.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
