Just so you know, I'm not usually the person who hits the 'tourist' spots because I really am not fond of most tourists. Especially in Paris. Which explains my presence here in February and not June. I want to experience places around the world like a local. But until a Parisian points out a better cup of hot chocolate, you... More

This cafe remains a Parisian institution. Over priced? Sure. Touristy? Sure. Cramped outdoor seating? Yep. But who cares. If you are a visitor to Paris take an hour or two out of your busy day to sip wine and people watch in the stylish St. Germain de Prés neighborhood. This is the place to do it. The service is quite... More

So we googled best hot chocolate in pairs then we took 2 metros and we couldn't have been happier. Thick, gloriously creamy and not too much! Honestly we have been raving about it to anyone who will listen! Pure bliss

Yes, it is pricey here, but the ambiance and hot chocolate is unbeatable. People should also remember that Cafe de Flore is one of the most famous cafes in paris and it is located in the luxurious saint germain area before the start complaining about the price. Service was superb, staff were welcoming and made us feel at ease. Truly... More

Great ambience for enjoying one's coffee whilst people watching and stuffing your face with a dose of Parisian croissant and tart. Certainly has a lot of French charm and history here, encouraging a good conversation and debate about anything under the sun. Never mind the slightly steep bill when you collect it later.

Paris has the best hot chocolate. It is one of the things I look forward to enjoying when I come to Paris. This famous cafe serves a good breakfast and the best hot chocolate just about anywhere.

V buzzy with both tourists (obv) but locals too... very beautiful touches, including the table mats, and great waiters. Had a cheese omelette (literally just the omelette on a plate - no garnish even) for 20 euros, and a v less-than-exciting salad (salade de flore) for about the same - probably asking for it considering the location, but really!

disclaimer: didn't eat here. we just ordered a tea and a cappuccino...and it was 15 euros! what the what? the boulangerie by my place would have been 5 euros total. my fault for not looking at the prices on the menu first, but i never would have imagined it was that much! the only reason it doesn't get a one... Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
