We were really looking forward to climbing the towers and it was even better than expected. The gargoyles were incredible, the bells were great and the views amazing. There was plenty of time to see everything properly. The cost was reasonable too. Be prepared for a lengthy wait and allow yourself plenty of time.

Another spot that is well worth the wait in line and the climb to the top! Amazing views of the city, the bells, and the gargoyles up close and personal make it well worth it!

Beautiful and stately, this iconic cathedral is well worth taking the time to visit. Allow yourself plenty of time to wait in line. We did not do the steps up the tower.

This place is amazing. The sculptures inside and out are so interesting. There a lot of tour groups here but it's still manageable. Make sure you get here before 7pm. They do light it up at night and it is beautiful.

There is a lot of people almost always, so in spite the tours are generally well presented and good, also are very automatic and the guides can sound robotic (I understand they do this one million times) with the presentation almost boring but I recommend the recorder with the headphones, they are very good and informative.

To be clear for tourists who do not understand simple French - tours mean towers. The towers are incredible. There is always a line - sometimes quite long - but it is worth it. The line forms along the side street to the left of the cathedral (when approaching from the square in front).

A must like the Eiffel Tower. Be there feed the pigeons and take pictures. Enjoy the monument. We didn't go inside. Our kids were happy outside. Go across the street to the famous Shakespeare bookstore. Many small shops with all kinds of art and books.

Top tourist place in Paris! So there is always a line, but I didn't wait for long time. There is a big area inside. The place is really fascinating! I really liked the smell inside cathedral!

I visited the Notre Dame in Hanoi, so I was expecting to be wowed by the Paris version. There are many, many more interesting cathedrals elsewhere in euroland without the masses of selfy idiots.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
