Located on the western end of Ile de la Cite, Place Dauphine dates from the early 17th Century when Henry IV was king and, evidently, when city planning was a royal responsibility. Although triangular in layout, the public square was one of the first in...More

This is a good place to take some respite from your walking around Paris... and walking Paris is the way to see it. This place will give you access to restaurants to sit down and reflect.

The early 17th century Square de la place Dauphine is a small, tri-angular shaped public square near the western end of Ile de la Cite. The square was initiated by King Henry IV and named after the Dauphin of France, his son and future king,...More

This small park is a surprise waiting for you. On the Ile de la Cite', just across the Pont Neuf. So beautiful, quiet, and inviting. It is very plain, sort of like the small place in the front of a rich cluster of homes, which...More

I love Paris, and all its parcs, jardins and squares. Nonetheless, Place Dauphine is a disappointment--because it is totally over-rated in travel guides. Perhaps it was something more in the past, but now it is quite plain, it is little but a resting spot. There...More

You approach the square walking along a narrow lane in the heart of Ile de la Cite. When you emerge into the square, it is like entering a calm oasis. The square is triangular and evenly planted with small, neat trees. Kids play amongst them....More

Pretty nice square located in the Ile de la Cité just behind the Palais de Justice and La Concergierie.- It's worth to take a moment of rest in it.- At spring it is nice to see a lot of birds in its trees.-

What an absolutely lovely quiet part of Paris, with fantastic walks along the banks of the river Seine. Clearly Parisians were enjoying romantic picnics alongside the river. Amazingly most of the tourists were speeding by on their way to the Notre Dame

Quiet, peaceful little park right on the Seine. We saw a couple get engaged. Mostly just couples relaxing and enjoying the view. It's a good break from the hustle and bustle of downtown Paris.

I have a special place in my heart for this location. 30 years ago when my wife and I had little money but lots of inclination for travel we stayed on Place Dauphine two times for a week each time. We wanted to see Europe...More

Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very
heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité,
sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of
Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the
site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held
before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic
Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the
Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island,
