Very nice

I saw it on a winter afternoon, it was very nice. I guess in the summertime it must be perfect, expecially at night

We took the metro to the station "Stalingrad" and then walk the whole way up to the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie. It is a nice quite area in between a city and you can relaxe. Our friends told us that during summer people are playing Boule. You can walk left or right of the water and there are... More

On a pleasant Monday morning in early May 2016, we disembarked at the Stalingrad Metro and walked from La Rotonde along the Bassin de la Villette, passing barges converted to restaurants and watching some of the water traffic. Reaching the Ibis hotel with its interesting façade next to the bridge at Rue de Crimee, which is a lift bridge (completed... More

We walked around this area over two days. It's a great little walk in a quite suburb of Paris. Very different to the hustle of the city centre. Come here to see how Parisiens unwind at a weekend. An operahouse at one end and a science museum and park at the other. Cafes, bars, restaurants and cinemas. This place has... More

If looking beyond the tourist attractions and want to get away from the Paris hustle this is the place! Spend an afternoon like a true parisian... It's different, relaxed, beautiful... Great, relaxed vibe! There are several places to drink and eat around the canal. Also, some paddle boats to hire... Metro access close by.

Where to begin: What a great locale. It wasn't always so and there's plenty of negative comments about this area.....but don't believe them...that was then, this is now. Re-energised, developed and gentrified this former dodgy area is really delightful and the more time we spend here the more we appreciate it. We're on a boat and moored here for 2... More

Bit outside the other touristic parts of Paris but certainly worth the visit. The best part of the canal de st Martin. Just walk en enjoy the people of Paris spending their weekend walking, running or playing jeu de boules in this relax zone dat away from the weekly stress. While you are here make sure to continue till the... More

Nice place for a visit in the sun on a weekend, it's good to leave the shops and the historic buildings and get out for some fresh air in beautiful Paris

My wife, two adult children and myself stayed at the Holiday Inn Express which overlooks the Canal and we had great times enjoying the canal and the neighborhood. My wife, adult daughter and myself had stayed here before in January of 2013 and it was nice even in the winter but it was really great in the summer when you... More

Staying in La Villette

Neighbourhood Profile
La Villette
This futuristic landscape has come to define the northeast of Paris. The Saint-Denis canal is framed with luscious lawns and metallic buildings over a wide-open space. Home to Europe's largest science museum, this area rewards daytime and nighttime explorations; there are three concert spaces, plus cinemas and bars, and even open-air cinema in the summer. The surrounding homes are a sharp contrast to the futuristic space. Though on the outskirts of Paris, La Villette is worth the short Metro ride from the centre.
