Queues for the Eiffel Tower can take over an hour at busy times but this skip-the-line tour lets you breeze past the crowds and enjoy priority access. Head straight up to the second floor and listen as your guide points out the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, and Notre Dame Cathedral. Finally, continue to the top floor on your own, where you can spend as long as you like admiring the views.

Built in 1826 in neoclassical style, Galerie Véro-Dodat is listed as a French historical landmark. The diagonal grid of black and white tiles is just one of its charms.

This is a beautiful old covered arcade; one of the many which populated the fashionable and wealthy areas of Paris. Nowadays there are only a handful remaining but they are a charming illustration of bourgeois life in 18thV Paris. There are little shops, cafes and restaurants inside. Bear this sort of visit in mind for one of many Parisian rainy days.

A smart part of Paris. Close to the Louvre but quieter and fewer tourists. Plenty of interesting shops although many not open at 10 in the morning. Worth seeing for the architecture alone incl the original spiral staircases. Plenty of cafes nearby.
