Even in the off season, it's packed with loud, pushy tourists who don't respect rules or other visitors. The website is not secure and misleading. There are not very many rooms open to the public and the gardens are no big deal. The town of Versailles is much more charming and fun to visit. You also can't bring any food... More

If you want to see why the French Revolution started through how the French Royals spent their time and money, then this is the first place to see! I'm not going to use my review to rate the history; the palace does this quite well. My review is more about how the palace is run nowadays. I went on a... More

Super dumb and super rude! That is how I would describe the Palace of Versaille staff. They believe they have a monopoly and they will treat you like dirt. Just avoid this place. It is miserable, crowded, hot, and stinks.

One of the finest exhibitions of majesty and power I have seen. The downside was the monstrous queue (1,500 in March) and the ultra-brief headphone commentary, doubtless designed to keep the crowd moving.

Very nice but wish we could have seen more of the palace, it seemed like there were a lot of rooms not included in admission/on the tour. The gardens were great- I bet they are mind-blowing when they are blooming in the late spring/summer.

Versailles is an amazing Chateau and one of the worlds wonders but there are so many tourists it takes the edge off the experience. One is surrounded by phones, tablets and selfie sticks!!!!! However once out into the grounds and other buildings it quietened down.

The most incredible amount of ceiling painting only second to the Vatican. Early morning arrival has long lines. We went at 2pm and walked right in. Go week days if possible. I think the summer would be really busy.

I last visited 40 years ago when there was very little within. Very interesting now but we wanted to see Marie Antoinettes farm. Very difficult to find and a long way off. Suggest the train at 4euros return. Lovely walks but hard on the feet and luckily we got the train back but still had to pay 4€ each even... More

If you're untested in history, this is the place to go to. Don't forget to visit the gardens too as they are wonderful. Loved the gates!!
