It was a nice visit, but there where crowds everywhere. It was long waiting to get my ticket. You can walk on the castle walls and you will get some information about the history of Carcasonne and the castlel. It took us about 2 hours...More

What an incredible place. So beautifully restored, and it would be fantastic to visit again, perhaps on a less crowded day, but then it was Saturday. It is well worth hiring the audio guide, as the information given is very well done, and the extra...More

I understand modern art, ephemeral art, artistic interventions. A few days were enough for this yellow lines. Even if you find the right spot to appreciate them as concentrical, I still think they spoil the magic of stepping in a Medieval town

This was one of our must dos and we were not disappointed. Takes a good couple of hours and you need the audio guide. Entrance reminded me of Mont Saint Michel with all the shops inside the walls. And what were they thinking by putting...More

It is best to go early in the morning or early evening to avoid the crowds, but the views from the ramparts are stunning. There are many squares and passages to wander through. It is delightful lit up at night.

A lovely walk around the ramparts with amazing views over the city .. no charge .. steps are quite steep with no rails so care must be taken .. about an hour to walk all round

Although we were a bit confused about how to ask for a Guided tour, we ended up enjoying our self guided tour with English audio devices very much. There is a wealth of information presented about the architect who oversaw the restoration and about the...More

The castle and the middle age city is usually the main reason to visit carcassone. Its views are amazing. Also the well treated walls and towers. You can park your car there for 5 hours just for 9 euros. Many places to buy souvenirs and...More

A very interesting walk through the castle, followed by walking around 2 parts of the ramparts. The latter was worth the price on its own. Great views from the walls and towers.

there are both the inner and outer ramparts. The outer are free. You pay for the inner. I think its 11/12 euros for the inner
