The "Arc De Triumph" Of Montpellier

Very nice place to visit, especially because it's going on top of the city where you have a good size park where you can also have a panoramic view of the city.

This is a very interesting monument by itself. It is flanked by many other interesting close by areas to include the old town, plazas, the food hall, restaraunts, etc. Highly recommend with a little bit of study before hand.

On the city side, you see the Canal du Midi connecting the Ocean and the Mediterranean and the revocation of the Edict of Nantes which outlawed Protestantism. Directions: From Place de... More

Situated at the border of the old city center (Ecusson) in place of the old fortification, the structure connects Promenade de Peyrou to the city. The promenade with its equestrian statue of Louis XIV. and the Chateau d'Eau are basically the extension of the aqueduct, which leads down along Rue Foch almost straight to the Comédie - only one block... Fascinating architechture at the gate to Montpellier down town. Neighbours the parc and the aquaducte also worth to visit.

Walking through the streets of Montpellier we glimpsed the Porte gleaming in the sun looking just like a miniature version of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Interesting monument in a lovely location.

The garden is on a higher hill from where a nice view of the city and surroundings is seen, especially in autumn when the trees are without their leaves!

Nice and beautiful view. Every day when the sun is setting you can see a lot of visitors appreciating the event playing violins, children's playing.

I really enjoyed this area and the Promenade Peyrou. It affords a great view of the city and the Roman aqueduct.
