Overview
More
This folly (pleasure house) was extended and beautifield between 1696 and 1730 by Etienne de Flaugergues, councillon to the revenue court of Montpellier. A unique three-storey staircaise with hanging key-stone vaulting of a rare elegance takes up a third of the building. Formal gardens lead to landscape gardens embellished by an orangery.

A lovely way to pass a very enjoyable day. The Chateau is built in Italianate style by an Italian family and offers house tours inexpensively. The gardens are a delight and you are free to wander. Follow that with an excellent and imaginative lunch in...More

Took a leisurely walk from the town centre to visit the chateau. Paid 7 Euros for an unguided walk around the gardens followed by a wine tasting at the end. Promotional material at the entrance shows photographs of lush hedgerow and green grass though the...More

We arrived fairly easily to the chateau flaugergues following a short walk from place de France tram stop. We fortunately were just in time for the guided tour in English and French (the guide's English was impeccable, but I gather she also spoke Italian too)...More

Good facilities- toilets, cafe, shop, wine tasting. We were only able to do a garden tour. Small amount of manicured gardens, mostly natural wooded area & informal planting. Impressive bamboos & nice orangery.

While it is not a castle and more of a manor, it is still full of history. The gardens were also very interesting. The wines were excellent and we had plenty of help explaining the different options. Also picked up some honey and spices. I...More

I could not see the castle itself as it cannot be visited in the mornings but its park is a beautiful place for a stroll in hot weather. I liked the herb garden especially and the name tags in front of some special species. Some...More

We bought this tour as part of an excursion on a business trip. The description had me thinking we were going to a castle and to see the beautiful gardens. It is located right in the city and what was the castle was disappointing. To...More

Maybe we were mis-sold this trip - we expected a tour of the chateau and gardens, but after a whistle-stop tour of a handful of rooms we were handed over to a guide for a walk around the bamboo trees then ushered into the wine...More
