The Château thoroughly deserves its description of the Versailles of Lorraine and, despite the majority of empty rooms, we were left in wonder at its historic importance. The rebuilding/restoration work is a great testimony to those involved (the virtual reality visors gave a comprehensive insight into the devastation caused by the 2003 fire) and it is hoped that the exhibitions... An impressive baroque palace that built by Germain Boffrand, student of Jules Hardouin-Mansart, the famous architect of the Palace of Versailles. The construction started at the beginning of the 18th century, at the "Age of Enlightenment" and Luneville became the "small Versailles of Lorrain". Its garden is designed by the great architect, Emmanuel Héré, who planned Place Stanislas in Nancy,... More

This is a small version of Versailles, called "petit Versailles Lorrain". It was unfortunately devastated by a fire in one of the wings but it has been extensively remodeled and it is now as beautiful as ever. The gardens are very classic French and are big enough for a long stroll. Not to be missed is a walk along the... More

The château has a very imposing appearance from the main free car park at the front. Sadly only a few rooms are open to the public. The gardens to the rear have pools and fountains and make a nice short walk. There are many benches under trees to each side of the formal gardens which make nice picnic spots (... More

Although there is very little to see inside the chateau just to see the sheer size of it is amazing. the gardens however are a must to go and see. with a vista that seems to go on forever there is so much to explore. Even the children can find something to do here! The flowers in April were fantastic.... More

Very imposing on the outside and garden/river nice for a walk but lost the plot on the inside possibly due to the ongoing restoration work. Also contains exhibition space in the wings but it is not sold as a unified building with a history or its connection with the town itself. A bit tatty in places and you do not... More

I think they are still renovating the inside, but the outside is very dramatic and the gardens, which are partially restored, are pleasant.

Since the interior of the castel was burnt down, you can only enter a couple of rooms to see the restoration process. The museum-shops are nice but not more... The gardens are very beautiful so if Luneville is on your way, stopping for a break or picnic in the gardens is recommended. Otherwise, not worth the drive.
