Although a relatively small permanent exhibition the Musee Goya was well worth a visit (and just €5 entry including the temporary exhibition can't be bad). Well set out displays and the visiting exhibit was very good.

We went to the museum on a Sunday, it was very hot outside, the views of the bishops garden's as we climbed the stairs were great. We were greet ed on arrival and asked our nationality, someone who spoke english was immediately identified and we were given the layout and informatiin in english. The paintings were superb and well laid... More

This museum displays some very interesting spanish paintings. We especially liked the painting "Les mangeurs de moules" by Pedro Nunez de Villavincencio. The temporary exhibit was interesting too.

A small selection of Goya works and some interesting other Spanish artists make this small museum 'ok' but not great. If visiting Chartres be advised that EVERYTHING closes from 2-6.

The museum was advertised as the best in Spanish art after the Louvre. There were only a few Goya paintings. The museum covers Medieval art through to the 20th century and exhibits paintings, sculptures and even an armoury room. There is not a lot of cohesion and some paintings look very dark and in need of restoration. On the positive... More

A great building and the gardens in which it sits are beautiful. The inside is dark and the paintings equally so. Don't think you are coming to see Goya's life works, there are very few actual Goya paintings to see - but keep an eye on temporary installations which can be more interesting that the permanent exhibits.

Castres is a nice town but the Goya Museum's name is rather misleading with little to observe but the building is okay.

This is really worth a visit. Not just Goya, but art from the medieval period through to 20th century. There was also an exhibition of modern art when we were there which was very thought provoking.

We came for a day trip in Castres so came the Goya museum. There are some lovely paintings by some famous Spanish artists including Goya and Picasso and although the museum is not that big it still managed to fit some marvellous and big paintings. Although there was only three paintings by Goya which is slightly disappointing given it is... More

This museum is small and charming, but don't let yourself be fooled by the name. Its subject is Spanish painters, on which subject it proclaims to be the second museum in France after the Louvre. We counted exactly 2 paintings from Goya in its halls and were hence slightly disappointed.
