Beautiful and worth the visit

The Basilica is gorgeous. First, it is a wonder because the structure is built in the rock face. It is an experience worth the drive and walk to visit.

We went here to see the Black Madonna and Christ Child of Rocamadour which were very impressive and were lucky enough to visit during one of their regular services - it was the highlight of our trip.

The Basilique is a must see, in fact, take your time to see the chapels and just be there for a while. Walk up to the castle, this is an interesting short walk. You will see 14 Stations of the Cross, also chapels in the natural caves. The walk is lighted at night. You can visit the castle walls, just... More

The church is architecturally stunning since it is built into a rock face. It also has a black Madonna as well as several other interesting areas. The views are excellent.

Being built into the rock face makes for interesting architecture. The church compound is made up of the basilica and a number of chapels one of which houses the black madonna revered by pilgrims to the area. That it is all perched above the very narrow and charming village of Rocamadour below is quite a feat. There are great views... More

This church has a variety of chapels and niches for worship and veneration from St. Amadour to the black statue of the Madonna. Cut into the rock cliff face, it is a mast interesting church complex to visit. Top it off that you are in Rocamadour and how can you lose.

The Basilica was a very cool stop, we especially appreciated the rock walls that the sanctuary was built into. It is an amazing piece of architecture. It is definitely worth the visit.

A truly lovely place, that even though visited by many tourists as well as pilgrims, still has an air of holiness. Partially built into the cliff, this is a place of austere beauty, but with the most glorious stained glass windows.

When visiting the city of Rocamadour one should certainly enter the Basilique which hosts the statue called the Black Madonna. The Basilique is the center point in the Pilgrim route.

This place partly carved into the rock is impressive. Is good to go there early morning, when the tourists have not yet awake and between pilgrims reaching here on her lap rethink a few things.
