Fascinating town carved into rocks, this is a reasonably sized tourist attraction. We went in August and note when you want to eat, as nearly all restaurants close between lunch and tea. Very touristy below the church buildings though. You can park at top and...More

Use the Chateau parking which is free. We visited the chateau, walked down to the religious site then through the village. The village is too touristy. Then went to the Roche des Aigles. Great day.

Well worth a visit and the steps if you can there are lifts if you need. the chateau and the city are great but lots of people most of the year. you can walk for miles if you can but it does get very hot.

I'm not really fond of religion but the old city built on the hill is awesome and the way of cross guides you directly to the sanctuary then to the old city.

Try to get into the town and walk around, but ALSO do walk or drive around the site to get the view from afar. Of course it's a touristy site, but there are many pilgrims too and you can feel the excitement of some who...More
