My partner and I visited the museum unsure as to whether we were going to enjoy it, as neither of us are real art experts. However when we got there, it was immediately obvious that there was so much to see that we could pick and choose what interested us. The descriptions of the paintings are all in French with... A combination of art gallery and museum over three floors. Apart from a brief 20 minute break for a croque monsieur and a coffee we were occupied for 3 hours. Apart from the expected arts and history there were extras from Zep. A Swiss cartoonist syndicated in French speaking countries. Various projectors are spread around the entire gallery and with... There's a lot of art on show at this museum which will take at least a couple of hours to get around. Mostly the art is pre 19th century so there's a great deal of paintings with a religious subject. Personally I preferred the impressionist section and the sculpture's. At any rate it's very well worth a visit when in... More

I mean its OK museum. Probably the landmark of Lille. The collection is quit big and interior design is very nice. They have different collections. I think its kid of first thing to do in Lille - visit this museum.

Advertised as the second greatest arts museum in France, we were underwhelmed. And, we had not yet been to the Louvre. We expected a much larger museum, many more objects and of a higher quality. Unless you are in Lille for another reason, we do not recommend spending the time. That said, the relief maps are unique and interesting. We... More

This gallery is something else. Huge, mixing modern with old and some very funny cartoon additions sitting beside grand works of art. Sculptures and fantastic to see and they also have some beautiful pieces of porcelain. One of the the surprises is a huge room filled with flat plans of cities. This place is well worth a visit, make sure... More

Fantastic collection of art work. Be prepared to walk around a truly fantastic building and admire the collection. Sit outside and admire the area.

Big on Flemish art by the likes of Rubens and Van Dyck and earlier paintings. They also have an extensive department of porcelain and sculptures. Nice to visit any day of the year. It's a big building, you need time to go around.

The Wiki page for this museum let's you know exactly what you are going to see so there should be no disappointment. The sculptures are stunning and there are a wealth of paintings for every taste. Loved it.

The museum is nice to walk through, especially on Sundays when the city is pretty quiet. Doesn't take a long time to go through it, and has some paintings and statues from famous artists.
