I made a special trip to Caen via train from Bayeux. Glad I took the time as the museum was well laid out and the audio guide was very informational and easy to use. I'd recommend seeing the DDay film and portion of the museum as well.

Lovely grounds and exterior exhibits that you can see without going inside. It was a bit cold and raining there, but it was mid November. They have a limited opening schedule during the winter so verify before going, Easy to get to and find, beautiful grounds and buildings. A tribute to the men and women who lost their lives and... The memorial gives a clear overview of the D-day activities. It is a good way to start visiting the D-day beaches and other museums

This place is a great museum for examining the history of World War II. We have also joined a D-Day-Tour which was just simply great.

This is the best WWII museum in the area. Plan to spend an entire day, if not two. The audio tour is thorough to say the least.

The number of WW2 related museums, tours and sites in Normandy is overwhelming. In hindsight, I am very happy we chose this one. The Memorial of Caen has excellent exhibitions which were very moving and fascinating for me and my husband and teen age son, who are both real WW2 buffs. The exhibition starts well before the war explaining how... More

We were on a tour, so we didn't get to see as much as we would of liked to see, but it's a well thought out memorial to D-Day. If you are a real history buff you may want to drive or take a train from Paris to get there.

I strongly recommend this place as part of a visit to Normandy. It takes at least a couple of hours to do it justice. And it talks about all the victims of war in a sympathetic manner. Interesting for adults and children.

My wife and I took the train from Paris and stayed the night in Caen. We visited the Memorial of Caen before taking a D-Day guided tour. The Memorial was one of the high lights of our trip to France. As a Historian, I found it to be quite accurate and interesting. I would recommend that you give yourself a... More
