Lovely church right in the middle of Caen. Undergoing lots of work but still accessible and worth a visit. Beautiful stained glass. Interesting to read the information they have provided around the church.
We found the church to be beautiful with statues, stained glass, the altar area, etc. We got a separate treat in that the organist was practicing so the place was filled with her music. Worth popping in!
St Pierre is a good example of a church that has survived several priods of destruction or neglect to give a view of life and religion in Normandy. The story of the bells which are present on the ground floor is worth a look itself.
Outside this is a really beautiful church with a fantastic tower and dozens of gargoyles. Unfortunately the tower is scaffolded currently so you cannot appreciate how beautiful it is. (I was here last year as well) Inside - well its gloomy and dark - not...More
