Most people go see the main Rouen cathedral and perhaps forget about this one. It is later gothic style and truly worth going to. Avoid lunch hours as it is closed, but it is quiet, beautiful, not as damaged as Rouen cathedral.

The abbey has been repurposed for civic and cultural events. We were so fortunate during the days of patrimony in mid September that the exhibit there featured the top masters of craftsmanship from the Haute Normandie region. They were introducing hundreds of French teenagers in school groups to their crafts in hopes that these youngsters might make a career choice... More

The abbey was a huge building, impressive height and windows, and in particular the organ. Was hosting a very modern art exhibition which really didn't seem to fit in this ancient location.

St Ouen's Abbey is a huge gothic church that didn't seem to be open for visitors when I went there, but it was still part of Rouen's magic

This is not always open but if it is you should go in. When I was there the space was hosting an arts expo with craftsmen set up to sell their wares. There is a park behind the Abbey, but a large part of the Abbey is now the town hall or Hotel de Ville, which you can also enter... More

As good as the Cathedral if not better interior. Huge organ that is still played. Look for concert dates?

We had the great fortune to be walking by the church when I heard the organ start to play. They were having a magnificent trumpet and organ consort. After this experience we continued to enjoy examining the architecture inside and out.

I found this church to be just as spectacular as the more publicized Notre Dame church . Huge, great stained glass windows, great organ, and maybe I am prejudiced in my rating as we walked in during an organ concert. What a sound, what acoustics. Grand Abbey.

Such an utterly gorgeous place and so peaceful. Fabulous architecture and well worth a visit. In a beautiful setting too smack in the middle of Rouen, surrounded by shops. You really feel the peace when you walk in.
