It is indeed a fancy place: beautiful architecture made of wooden beams and stone, a central courtyard with a couple of trees … it is quiet but at the same time it is hard to imagine that this was an ossuary (upper galleries were stuffed...More

It is a small square with very old buildings. The visit is very short since there is not much to see (just walking around the place) but it's very interesting, and gives you spooky feeling actually. Pay attention to the visiting hours, as it's not...More

What looks like a quiet half timbered tucked away courtyard is a fascinating Plague burial ground, decorated with macabre death carvings and 'Dance of Death' statues. Spend a few minutes reading a guide book to fully appreciate it.

Your trip to Rouen can not be complete if you don't visit this place. If you don't have your guide get one to fully understand where you are standing up... an untouched place that's been up since the Middle ages.

You learn a lot in history class, then there are the parts that they just don't have time to tell us about. On a walking tour through Rouen, we visited the Plague Cemetery, one of two, we were told, that exist in France, this being...More

This ancient ossuary was certainly once a great historical site - but seemed to have truly fallen on hard times at the time of our visit. Graffiti - windows broken and papered over. Still a remarkable half-timbered structure.

When walking south on Rue Damiette make a left onto Rue Martainville (there is a "Walsheim" restaurant on the corner) walk a bit until you see a garage or carriage house-type opening (it is not the first one you come to; that is the back...More

Given its history as a burial place for those dying in the plague this area has a serenity as well as a charm among the beautifully carved buildings. It is not easy to find but very much worth the search.

This burial site is hard to find but worth the effort. The corpses from the plague were treated with lye and then the bones were stacked in the second story (I don’t think that you can see the bones ). The most interesting parts were...More

For some reason it is kind of peaceful. This site is an old roman villa turned into a house for dying during the plague epidemic. Later it became graveyard and even a boarding school. Can be a bit hard to find.
