A great day spent walking through history. The city character and char seems to come alive while walking through the streets of old Rouen.

We spent the night in Rouen on the way from Bruges to Normandy. Of all the options on, or near, our route south, this seemed like the best. I'd read rave reviews of the old town on TA and had very high expectations. We got...More

We spent a few hours strolling in the streets of the historical Rouen. Time seems to have stop here.We could easily figure out how life was back in the medieval times. Rouen is really an amazing city.

We have walked through historical Rouen on several occasions now but it always shows something new. Unfortunately the Cathedral was inaccessible due to ongoing work. It is a lovely area to walk through and is virtually free of cars

We had a walking tour of Rouen, including the old town area. Rouen is a beautiful historic city - so many old buildings from the 14th & 15th century. The United States is such a young country. It's hard to fathom that some of these...More

Really fun and interesting to walk about, if you want to get an impression what a really old city looks like you should walk about here. There are also some nice shops with interesting wares. A great experience

We had a guided tour of old Rouen and learned about the architecture with it's timbered houses many which have been restored, historical monuments, church's, and of course Joan of Arc.

We toured this very old town while cruising the Seine River. Should your travels allow, seeing the extremely old houses that overhang the streets is truly unique.

It is difficult to walk around the city centre without continuously stopping to take photographs. There are so many old half-timbered buildings, many with special features and streets/alleyways that seem to hold a thousand surprises. Don't take a tour, just explore!

Rouen is a lovely old town along the Siene. Enjoyed the architecture, especially the half timbered houses.

Gee, I would not try to drive to Giverny, spend time there, then head to Rouen - it's a lot of driving, not giving you much time at Giverny & Rouen. I would consider just doing Rouen - it's a good sized city and there's... More

As I recall, it was a short walk from the Seine to the Cathedral, perhaps four blocks, and the old town square was about six or seven blocks further. There was relatively limited vehicle traffic--everybody was on foot, the... More

Hi. Hope not too late! We went by car, but looking at the Google map, the train station seems to be about 600-800 metres (half a mile or so).. there are some hills but it hardly seems worth a taxi ride. The cathedral is in... More
