Returning from our family holiday in southern France, and scoping out Le Mans for a short stop, I saw La Nuit des Chimeres advertised. Website wasn't very clear on dates as we were at the very end of the season, but we eventually confirmed it was on. We picked up a map from the Tourist Information in the centre of... More

The nightly display for Christmas features on the cathedral walls and tells some biblical stories and also patterns and folk tales. The show lasts about 20 minutes and repeats on a loop between 18:30 and 21:00. Well worth braving the cold to enjoy it.

This started much later than the advertised time and was quite limited. However it was very pleasant. The one we saw in Rennes the next night was better.

We have seen this Son et Lumiere before and it involves the old town which is worth seeing in itself,it is fabulous to watch and each section is about ten minutes, you walk around the old town to find the various locations and wait for the next showing s they are on a continous loop.

Wonderful storytelling with projected lights. Difficult to describe but not to be missed if you are in or near Le Mans in summer.

It is difficult to explain why this was a dreamlike experience. Not just for tourists; there were local people with folding chairs watching it in the main square. We heard how this imaging is done and therefore: lots of compliments to the artists

Excellent when the guided road train is taken - really enjoyed it last year and would definitely do it again one day.

Well worth waiting for sunset to see this spectacle. Best light show I have ever seen. The Cathedral is a great sight on its own but this adds the magic to it. Highly recommend.

Excellent show of lights and sound. We came across it by chance, and ended up looking for more projections. Really ingenious and creative, a fun way to explore the old town by night, with all the other tourists around (it can get busy). The council should be congratulated for such a great initiative.

Le Mans has a lumiere de nuit show (night lights) running at the moment. The old town has light projections in many of the streets and the central fountain is just stunning. The main lights to see are those that are projected on the doors of the cathedral. They fade in and out and are different each time. An amazing... More
