6 € for the adult entrance is well payed. The castle and the location of it, dominating the river and the city is beautiful. Visiting the few things gathered in the castle is not worth it at all. Go there, take some pics, enjoyed the...More

We visited Saumur recently on an excursion from a cruise on the River Loire. We were taken to see the castle from the outside. It is in a stunning location and has a typical farytale look about it but, at present, is spoilt somewhat by...More

The chateau is current being repaired. Website didn’t have enough information. The panoramic point had human feces everywhere. Perhaps the castle should care for cleanliness...

Nice afternoon out with kids who enjoyed their little treasure hunt / activity booklet. Other than that it was just a nice troll around a chateau with nice views,

Were hurried around the castle and unable to spend as much time as we would have liked on the tour. The guide we had was excellent and apologetic and explained that the summer visits offer a lot more, would love to return but not in...More

Clearly this castle has been long neglected and is only now receiving the attention it needs. Very few of the castles rooms are open to the public and those that are contain very little information on the actual castle, focusing instead on the contents, which...More
