This was our first experience visiting a cognac house and it was both interesting and enjoyable. We were the only two on the tour. The guide spoke English well. She was very knowledgeable and professional. The location is right near the river and easy to find. The Chateau is old, it's history is interesting, the cellars were very fascinating, and... More

This Chateau is hidden in the middle of Cognac. It is a great little maze with lots of history. Many of the decorations are no longer the original but well done replicas.

Thank you for your comment. Indeed, the Royal Château de Cognac has been destroyed many times then rebuilt. That's why the different rooms of the Château date back to various times. I think the decorations you mention are the mouldings : the originals are in Basilic St Denis next to Paris ! More

Decided to go here after chatting with the very helpful guide at the Muses design Arts Cognac a short distance away. We liked having visited the museum first because we had something of the history of the place and saw the model of how the original Chateau looked. I was dubious at first about a Cognac tour... after all cognac... More

We visited Cognac today and booked a guided tour of Chateau De Cognac. Our guide Marina was wonderful She took us through the Chateau explaining to us about the history of the Chateau, that King Francis 1st was born there and how he enjoyed entertaining. Baron Otard bought the Chateau in 1795 and commenced his cognac business that still exists... More

I don't drink Cognac, but I wanted to tour the castle during my stay in Bordeaux. I was not disappointed. I arrived early, so I bought my 8€ ticket and walked around to the Hennessy distillery to kill time. Martell was further down the winding cobblestone streets. I was surprised at the level of security at Hennessy - they wanded... More

Done this visit 3 times now with various visiting family. There is penty of history concerning the chateaux and a good explication of how the cognac is procuced. Apealed to children more when the guides were in period dress but still remains enough to keep them interested. My favourite trip and my favourite Cognac.

The Chateau Otard is not terribly obvious amongst the other large stone edifices in the town centre; there's just a small notice board at the entrance gates directly off the street, but you can park in a free car park 50 metres away (if you can find a place!). Our young lady guide was good, and her English commentary was... More

Thank you very much for your comment. Indeed, we are lucky to have a Cognac House settled in a Royal Chateau, whose history is closely linked to the History of France, as 9 Kings came to the Chateau, among them the French King Francis I. More

We visited Cognac whilst on a stay in Bordeaux, the town of Cognac is small but very nice to visit with the river running through the centre and a lot of history, if you like a taste of the very special drink - Cognac then join a tour of one of the great brands, Hennessy, Martell and Otard to mention... Thank you for your comment. Indeed, the tours we propose combine two aspects of history : the History of France and the history of Baron Otard cognac up to the present day.
