We often visit this church as it's near our French home - love it and imagine the pilgrims in the middle ages en route to Compostela as this is on the route.
Beautiful, not commercialised, a sacred place.

We went to this chutrch in march 2017 which is right in the centre of Poitiers
It seemed dark inside but that was I am sure to protect the paintings.

The first thing you need to do before entering this church is research its history and know what to look for and where to find it. It's annoying finding out all the things you needed to see and do after you left.
This may not be the most stunning church I've seen in Europe but it is definitely the most beautiful one in Vienne. If in the area, we can recommend seeing another church because if you don't, it may just be "that one."
Worth a visit to simply take in the craftsmanship of both the exterior and interior of the church. Incredible that such work could be completed and retained with the tools and materials available at the time.
