This is a great place that you can visit for free. It is easiest to visit by driving, but you can also take the bus and ask the driver the best place to stop. You can take a bus towards Puyloubier or a bus towards...More

Parked in the Parking Anchoise, just past Le Tholonet. Then walk up to the Croix passing the Priory en route.Beautiful views all the way up. Walk took us just under 31/2 hours there and back. Well worth the effort but it is a strenuous climb.

We took the blue route from Bimont dam. Sign said 2.25 hours but it took us closer to three with frequent stops needed for rest. This route is almost all in the sun and the white rock reflects light up as well. Sunglasses, hat, and...More

Spectacular views, quite a difficult climb in places. We went in March, but it was still pretty hot, so hats and water are a must.

I travelled on a little local bus (no 110) from Aix to visit the villages at the foot of this wonderful mountain. Its presence is so important to Aix, being the mountain that Cézanne painted over 80 times. I believe there are trails but I...More

Don't go alone, especially if you're a first timer. The mountain is huge and there are so many routes to take to the top. Follow a crowd or visit the tourist centre at the bottom for a map. I found the map not to be...More

St Victoire dominates the landscape. It is beautifully craggy and because of the light never looks the same. It is a stunning.

If you go on a hot sunny day, go early and take sun cream, hat and lots of water as the temperature can get very hot . Nice trails and easy to follow paint markers on the rocks

Beautiful mountain near Aix en Provence, painted by the famous impressionist painter Paul Cezanne. Depending on when you watch at "her", "she" can be grey, blue, pink...you must watch this mountain, but not spoil it. There are protected species, plants, animals.

My wife and I plan to spend a couple of days around Ste Victoire in early March. We will have a rental car. We would prefer to stay near the mountain in a hotel with restaurant or in a hotel with restaurants nearby so that we could avoid driving somewhere at night. I haven't been able to find many options that fit that profile unless we stay in Aix itself. Does anyone have suggestions?

Hi We stayed at the Mercure hotel in Ste Victoire. Hotel was fine but we ate in Aix: the hotel restaurant is very expensive for what it is and there are no other cafes or restaurants in Ste Victoire.

Hi, I will be staying in Gassin next week and am interested in doing a day trip to Aix-en-Provence and doing some hiking in Sainte Victoire. I'm looking for any information regarding the names and types of hiking trails in the mountains and if there is any trains or busses that could from from (or near) Gassin to the the town or any of the trail heads. Also interested in learning more about the shelter where you can spend the night. Thank you in advance! Sophie
