Vasarely worked on a superhuman scale and this private foundation has found the space on the edge of town to display works in suitably spacious quarters. The artist believed he could save the world with squares and triangles, arranged like a colour chart. But stand...More

We are Vasarely fans and we discovered in Monaco that there was a museum in Aix-en-Provence. We loved the optical illusions and how grand the artworks were here. We got a discount as currently renovations were going on which is why not all the rooms...More

This was a perfect activity for a rainy afternoon. This museum features uniquely the works of Victor Vasarely. Each exhibit room houses 6 massive optical illusions. Unfortunately three of the seven exhibit rooms were being renovated and so we could not see the works inside,...More

Off the beaten path, but well worth a visit. Very modern, indoor and outdoor. Drive up the driveway and see if you can park at the top since the hill can be steep to climb.

The Fondation Vasarely is still in a poor state of repair with paint peeling off the artworks and the walls. A multi-venue exhibition entitled Multiplicite has amazing works but the catalogue won't be ready until after the show. Sad really.

Even if you are not a experienced art lover it is worth to visit the Vasarely Foundation. Each work has opportunities to study, although they look very simple at first sight. Public attention is needed to keep the museum running and renovating.

Visited with kids (aged 6 and 7). All enjoyed it but it's a bit expensive for a relatively small museum, and the place is not very welcoming, both because the exterior is very dreary despite the architecture and because the staff were very unfriendly. Avons...More
