Good place to visit

I took a tour in French although my french is less than good and enjoyed it very much. I would suggest to read some history before you visit.

This is an amazing preserved Roman amphitheater and was quite the surprise for us to find in the South of France. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring this piece of history.

You will not miss the best preserved Roman amphitheater in Europe. Of course you will compare the Coliseum, but ... arena is "whole", offers a sharper image and on a combat theater of antiquity. Hats off for the way in which it was preserved!

Simply put this is one of the finest ancient ampitheatre's in the world. In the heart of the lovely Provence town of Arles, it really is a must see!. Take care with the steps though if you are less mobile there are many if you want to see the best views.

We saw a show at Christmas and it was fabulous. The security was very good and it was a brilliant experience. I highly recommend going at Christmas.

While not as big as the amphitheater in Rome, more of this structure has been better preserved/reconstructed. These structures look better when they have not been completely destroyed by subsequent people using them for rock quarries. You get a really good sense of the size of the facilities built by the Romans. Its a shame the Roman civilization went into... More

Advertised as one of the best preserved arenas from the ancient Roman world, in fact, this arena is well preserved, mainly due to the fact it has been in use for almost 2000 years. Smaller than the Roman coliseum, but basically the same concept, it is a great example of Roman engineering.

Really very well preserved and almost as impressive as Rome itself. Entry fee but very little info provided for it better to look it up on the unesco site
