Staying in the Hotel de l'Horloge this Place was on the doorstep (literally). The Hotel de Ville and the numerous restaurants and bars combine to give this Place some atmosphere, especially in the evenings. Early July is also the time of the Avignon Festival which...More

Filled with cafes, restaurants and tons of tourists it's pretty much the main square. Pricey? Sure. But get just a coffee or a wine near at a place near the carosel and watch the children's faces (and their parents' too)!

This is where most tourists hang out. Restaurants were so-so, coffee overpriced - but great place to sit and watch the people. Markets during the day sold little trinkets and handmade jewelry. I suspect that during November and December the offerings are a bit better...More

The square is just below the palace and has plenty of places to eat, get ice cream and to let the kids run around. It is quite busy and has a nice view of the front entrance to the palace.

We stayed st the Kirian right near this square - this is the area everyone comes to eat and enjoy entertainment and look at little stands selling souvenirs. Doubt you can miss this square as it is the heart of Avignon.

Loved this main square of Avignon intra muros with a carousel, lots of restaurants, hussle and bussle and beautiful buildings. A mini market was taking place the days I was there selling handicrafts etc.

Town square. I avoid the restaurants so I can't comment on them. It's nothing special, but you'll pass it to get to Palais des Papes. There are Christmas Markets as per usual. November also has Beaujolais Nouveau, you can taste the new wines.

When we arrived here we noticed that it was full of restaurants and cafes. On further research it contained non of the best restaurants in Avignon. I should point out that Avignon is a gastronomic delight so look further for excellent meals.
