An English equivalent might be a modern 'Harrods'! Especially if the weather is inclement, a great place to while away a few hours. Plenty of food halls to buy fresh food to take away or have freshly prepared in one of the beautifully laid up eating areas.

Enjoyed the store, but the selection of prepared food are excellent for a lunch break. There's an interior area and exterior terrace to enjoy your meal. Highly recommend the classic "Quiche Lorraine" !

A grand store a few blocks from our hotel (La Residence du Vieux Port). Especially excellent selection of fish, cheeses, and wines that are reasonably priced. We ate lunch in the little restaurant near the front entrance and got a detailed verbal tour of Marseille from a lovely long-time resident.

This place is any "foodies" wet dream. Filled to the brim with artisanal foods from France and beyond. It's stunning. You'll have to pay a rather high price for the luxury but even a free stroll through the shop can be rewarding and filled with curiosities.

The Galeries Lafayette are a chain of up-market stores across France and provide many reasons to go shopping, including, at the entrance shown in the picture a small sandwich, pastry, eatery......upstairs fresh meat and fish on sale and two small bijou restaurants and a boulangerie...a supermarket with quite a good selection of products and THEN into the main store with... Went on a Sunday most of the town is closed, so we first went on the train then called in on the way back to shuttle bus, on the back of the ticket you can get 10 per cent off your purchases on top of the sales prices so I bought a longchamp bag at half price and a 18ct... More

Everything from clothing to seafood, ready-made high quality lunches at decent prices. This is a great (and cool) place to shop, especially during the summer heat.

There are two Galeries Lafayette in Marseille. The one on Rue Bir Hakeim is bigger and has homewares and food. Although open it was undergoing renovation at the time we visited. The address on TripAdvisor is correct but it is showing up on the map as Rue Saint-Ferréol which is the other smaller location. As others have said, not up... More

Located at the back of the Vieux Port and next to Le Canebière, this is the typical French shopping mall, smaller than the one in Paris though. I've been greatly attracted by the gourmet section. They have a big fishmonger (most of the fish is frozen, sadly), a good butcher shop and charcuterie and a lovely bakery and patisserie. The... More
