We bought our tickets at the Visitor Bureau, but you can get them at the train starting point (alongside the harbor). A couple of things to be aware of: the train makes only one stop, at the Notre Dame Cathedrale, and moves pretty fast so...More

1/2 way up one side of Vielle Port is the little train that could, and does give you a comprehensive tour of Marseille....including the Basilique Notre Dame on top of the hill. Buy your ticket right away and then stand in line for up to...More

This little train took us on a big ride around this city saving our legs from walking up and down. The train ride gives you a overview of this beautiful city and you could go back to check out any particular spot.

You can take the local bus to the top of the hill to visit the church for about 2 euros, as opposed to the little train at 7euros, but you get a good commentary, it's more fun and a great way to see the town.

We will have a rental car..is there parking buildings close to the Petit train? Are the car park buildings safe in Marseille. Unfortunately it doesn't have a good reputation.!! I gather the benefit of the little train over the hop on hop off buses is that they don't get stuck in traffic jams?? Thanks

Regarding parking near the train I would not know. Marseille in fact has a bad reputation, just like all the port cities. Regarding traffic, I do not think you'll be stuck.

What are the hours that it operates? I checked their website but it doesn't say when it starts to run. I saw on another forum that it didn't start running until 10am and wanted to see if this was true. Thanks in advance!

Hi, thanks for your review. Can you use the Petit Train to hop on/off, we want to look round Vallon Des Auffes and Notre Dame, which are listed as two separate stops on the Green Line 1, for the one fare of 8 Euro ? Regards Lee

Circuit 1 of the Petit Train is the circuit that goes to Notre Dame de la Garde. You can hop off and hop on at Notre Dame only. There are no other stops on Circuit 1. The fare last month was 8 Euros per person.
