We went there today. It was such an impressive restoration of the archaeological site. This was our first time to visit such a museum and it was really interesting to see the history and also how it was designed as a museum to show 2,000 years history of St. Laurent church.

You can not beat a free visit to this museum. It is a small informative museum and if you have the time I would recommend a visit

What a well laid out and fascinating place. Free to enter and free audio guides. Just the right amount of information. Seeing the church and how it was built, re-built and extended was so interesting. Very atmospheric. A must-see!

This place is more like a visit to an archeological dig than a museum. The layers of the church have been peeled back so that you can see the successive buildings, right from the earliest crypt in 521AD through to the most modern. Despite entering at ground level, you are entering the church's gallery and then walk through the building,... More

This well-arranged display of archeological findings of different eras is well put in context in the Saint Laurent Basilica. The visit path is well delimited in spite of the main corridors and stairs and offers some surprise views of the main attraction.

This is essentially a church with the floor removed to reveal the remains of earlier buildings dating back to the earliest centuries of Christianity. It is free to visit, there is a free audio guide and the lady on the desk was really nice and helpful - when I said I could only make a very brief visit she suggested... More

we visited the archeological museum in Grenoble with our 2 kids age 3 and 6, and we were all really impressed. from the entrance when you are 15m into the air and overlooking the whole museum to the old graves. some archeological linked activities are available if booked in advance. great place to understand the origins of Grenoble itself.

We were enthralled by the atmosphere in the main exhibit. It provides a wonderful insight into the development of the region and the people that inhabited it. Free entry and audio guides in all languages (did not take one, row from wife). Greeting was wonderful and the chap was a fan of the mountains in Scotland, which are much...smaller.
