Nice, for the trip and for the visit and views up there. Quite expensive

I like to do it, The trip itself is nice, but not exceptional either. The best is what you find at the top: the nice village of Saint Hilaire du Touvet. The best is certainly to... read more

The train is interesting and fun but very expensive - over 50 euros for a family of 4, so it would be best to spend the entire day on the plateau.

I like to do it, The trip itself is nice, but not exceptional either. The best is what you find at the top: the nice village of Saint Hilaire du Touvet. The best is certainly to watch the paragliders taking off in front of amazing view. So go by nice weather. So the funicular, cool, but it is quite expensive.... More

It was pretty expensive to go up and down, but we decided to do it anyway - it's an amazing experience and who knows if we ever get a chance to do it again ?! Even my mom who is pretty scared of the hights was feeling save on the way up and down ! When we got up we... More

It is quite expencive to go up and down, but it is possible to go only up and walk down, there is a nice walking path, we did take the train both ways and it was nice just expensive compared to the Bulles in Grenoble. But we do recommend taking the train up but walk down or paraglide down.

The steepest and probably the scariest funicular in Europe! It goes up at around 80% in places and ascends some 2000 feet. The views on a good day are just superb. Right across the valley and even taking in a waterfall on the way. At the top is a small village with tourist facilities. Departures are a little unpredictable -... More

The cable car is a must. It's fun and like others have said, it's a great example of engineering if you're into that :) Pack a picnic, enjoy the view from the top under the shape, watch the hang gliders. The hike down is wonderful, past nature, waterfalls, old ruins of a castle.

If you're afraid of heights, this isn't for you. The ride, though quite slow, is very steep. The view along the way and at the top is amazing. The autumn colors were beautiful!

This cable car trip is a must. One of the steepest in the Alps, it takes you to a plateau quite suitable for a family day hike. You may also take your bike and ride it down to the valley. On a good sunny day you will enjoy the numerous para gliders who jump from the field just 100 yards... More

The funicular railway runs from the road at the base of the hill and takes just a few minutes to reach the top. It seemed safe and well maintained, although the views from inside the 'carriages' were slightly obscured by the cloud plastic of the balls (the carriages are round and seat c6 people each). Those of a nervous disposition... More
