A disclaimer; I am a professional puppeteer, so seeing the oldest known Guignol puppet was very exciting for me. Guignol is a famous character similar to Punch in England or Pulchinelle in Italy (I may have spelled that wrong). There are a few rooms dedicated to Guignol and puppetry in Lyon & France, then a few other rooms for other... More

Wander through the shop past all the puppets and down into a world full of mechanised puppets and other related displays. You will find out how different puppets are made and how they work, as well as the history of puppets in Lyon and France.

My wife and I recently visited this puppet museum in Lyon where they have a collection of puppets from around the world with a rather large concentration of puppets from France. It was an interesting collection and a good activity for a rainy day (which it was). The museum is located in the old city, which, in and of itself,... More

I'm a big fan of puppetry. If you're not, skip this place. In a tiny storefront you see an oddball collection of signs, toys, trickets and a few marionnettes. Heavily tattooed attendants point you toward the stairs to a musty, dark cellar where a group of the puppets come to life under really creepy shadows. Many of the characters are... More

Feeling a bit overwhelmed with touring around this lovely city -voila -a small, but chock full of puppets old and new to help you forget your aching feet. Was so worth a visit-short but sweet.

5 euros per person, for 2 little rooms with some puppets... We were hoping for something more interesting and fun.

A bit goofy, but definitely cute and worth the easy entrance fee! I really liked it! Lots of different marionettes to see and right on the old town main pedestrian road. I'd check it out if I were you! Also, Giugnol is SUPER Lyonaisse!

Interresting and fun but small and fast to do. It is the only place where you can learn about guignol. Ask the desk guy of you have questions, he knows his stuff!

We were wandering down the Rue St Jean and saw the Guignol puppet shop and then realised this was the Petit Musee on our Lyon Visitor pass. The first part of the museum is at the back of the shop. There is a looped audio guide which goes through French, Italian, Japanese and English - you just have to wait... More
