This attractive building is not as old as it looks, having been rebuilt after the 1944 bombings in its earlier style which certainly complements other historic buildings in Freiburg. It was initially completed in 1901 by modifying a Renaissance semi-detached house in Rathausplatz and is now connected to the old 1559 Town Hall by another central building. The Tourist Information... More

The city although small is full of life, people everywhere and they even have 2 starbucks coffee shops in such a small area. Plenty of noce buildings to see and public transport via tram is very good. The beer in the city is quite tasty.

This Renaissance style building was constructed between 1896-1901 and is located on Town Square in the center of Freiburg. In fact, the new Town Hall is actually connected to the old Town Hall (1559) by a central building! A terrace was built above the entrance arcade of the new town hall as well as modifications of the façade and windows... More

Stop by and view this building for a taste of Freiburg in the past. Looks like something out of a movie but is a active busy place.

The tourism office adjoins with very helpful staff. One good thing is they have a live webcam to see what the weather is like for hiking. The new town hall itself is beautiful inside and out. Used mostly now for functions and weddings.

It's a beautiful place in the city. Fantastic architecture. Very nice square with a fabulous ice café in summer (it's closed in wintertime and then houses a fantastic board game shop before Christmas). Great place to have a coffee or a wonderful ice cream creation. If the kids like the "Bächle-Boote" the little boats which can go float in the... More

It's almost impossible to pick a favourite building in Freiburg, but the New Town Hall has to be up there. Exactly the type of architecture you go to that part of German to see. A pleasant part of a pleasant town.
