This town square, built next to and named after Freiburg's famous cathedral, is still a major center of the city's social activity.

This large open area is the site of a huge outdoor market on Saturday. The cafes and restaurants around the perimeter are open on both Saturday and Sunday, although the platz itself is empty on Sunday. There are frequently musicians playing here and there.

Visiting on a quiet Sunday morning, this is a beautiful square next to the cathedral. Our guide confirmed that almost all of the area was leveled by Allied bombing in 1944, so most buildings are accurate reconstructions of what existed.

Charming and beautiful square in Freiburg. Plenty of great architecture to enjoy and a nice place to sit and have a drink.

Ate twice in this square and had good meals. The Munster is well worth a visit and there are some delightful little pedestrian streets nearby. There is a market there every day except Sunday.

Not sure this is an attraction as such. It's a square. It's nice enough. There are nice views of the Muenster, and there are plenty of touristy places to eat.

Hey! Most Hotels in Freiburg have good access to the Christmas Market so it depends on your budget but most also offer free public transport cards.
