Don't know what all the fuss is about to basically little canals of the street with the water. Look like people were having fun putting their feet in the water, but I can't see how they are rated so highly on TripAdvisor.

When in Freiburg you cannot miss the bachle (water channels running along may of the streets). At first you might think this is a German form of open sewers, but the water is sparkling clear. Children float toy boats in them (good photo op). Watch...More

The Baechle and it's many stories must be one of the more fun and unusual things about Freiburg. It's something for everyone, from the toddlers floating their boats, the dogs having a drink on a hot day, the students falling in after a night on...More

The Bachle which are water-filled mini canals are a intriguing feature of Freiburg and add to the charm of the city. One can see children floating boats and on a crowded day one has to be careful not to fall in. If you look hard...More

The historical canals have been installed already hundred years ago. In the passed they have been more in the middle of the street and then moved to the side, so that the street could be used as a street for transports.

Freiburg is criss-crossed with these water "canals" that add a special look and atmosphere to the city. The local citizens seem to love these and we saw plastic ducks "wimming" in the stream (they were tied together by wire.

Real fun to wander around in the city with water everywhere. Just be sure the look where you are going to avoid to step in the Bächle accidentally. And kids can use the water to play with little boats.

Not only do these waterways clean the city, but they provide entertainment for children who can float small boats in them. This is really a special attraction to Freiburg that I would not miss if visiting.

It's pretty cool to be walking through the centre of the city and see the little canals everywhere. Worth looking out for
