A great showcase of preserved history. The master building of a fortified building to withstand the test of time. The view is spectacular but no handicap access except the tram up to the castle.

Don't miss visiting the castle if your are in Heidelberg. The views of the Neckar River and the city are truly stunning with lots of great photo ops. Explore the grounds and don't miss the giant wine barrel which, happily, is in the wine-tasting room and cafe! There is no opulent interior to see as the destroyed castle was never... More

While the exterior of castle is a joy to explore and look at, seeing the inside of the reconstructed castle is a lot of fun. They have English tours hourly starting at 11:15. You get to go out into some of the destroyed parts and take pictures going out. Be warned you are not allowed to take any pictures inside.... More

Incredible views of the city & river from the castle walls. You get to see the HUGE wine barrels, the largest in the world actually, that used over 160 oak trees to create. The castle & grounds are beautiful, most of the exterior has been restored. You can see why there are so many weddings held here, both inside &... More

Used the funicular railway to access the castle so the combined ticket included entrance to the castle. Saw the biggest wine barrel in the world which was worth the entrance money alone.

My friend and I hiked up to the castle, and it was worth it. Great views, interesting museum, a wine bar - all very nice. We purchased a ticket for the castle and museum and it included a ride in the funicular, so we took that down.

Took the Funicular railway to the castle. Ticket can cover entry to the castle also. Most of the castle is not accessible unless you go on a free tour. The tour was timed 11:15, 12:15 with a gap around lunch and then restarted at 14:15. We arrived at 12:15 and were unable to get on the tour (probably full). So... More
