I found this quite interesting and well presented.. If you are at Heidelberg Castle take the time to walk through. The Museum walks you through the history of pharmacy and if you are a pharmacist, in the industry or just have a genuine interest in the topic it would be worth going out of your way to visit.... It is... More

I saw this display 40 years ago. It was excellent then and has gotten better. There is now an excellent, illustrated outline of the history of pharmaceutical philosophy and science - in German and English. Worth the time to examine thoroughly.

Great to see all the different bottles and machines to do Pharmacy back in the day. It's onsite and very easy to walk through. Worth the visit and able to appreciate how far we have come along. Also if it is rainy outside, good or cover while at the Castle. =)

The museum is located in the Heidelberg Castle and admission is included in the ticket to get in to castle. We needed to kill 20 minutes waiting for a tour of the castle and this was perfect.

This is a nice museum based on how medicines were made in the olden days. Cures were developed based on natural ways i.e. herbs, fruits, etc. This place is also included in the castle admission ticket.

The Apothecary Museum chronicles the manufacture and usage of drugs and medicines throughout the ages. It was interesting to see what people considered medicine in olden times. The displays were pretty and informative. It was a little strange, though, on why this museum would be located inside Heidelberg Castle.

Deutsches Apotheken Museum (German Pharmacy Museum) is situated in a restored wing of Heidelberg Castle. When you elect to go up to the Castle with the funicular, then the funicular ticket entitles you to free entrance to the castle grounds and also the Apotheken Museum. Otherwise you have to obtain a ticket at the main ticket office of the Castle.... More

If you are interested in health and the history of medicine you are at a great place. A good collection of inventory's of old pharmacies is well worth seeing. Also the lab is very nice, good collection of herbs.

Found this place in the castle very interesting. A few more English explanations of what things were wouldn't go a miss. However the main sections were in English so you knew the basics and played guess what this does with the rest!
