Beautiful on the outside, average on the inside. The best location in town as all the churches always have.

The church stands in the same place where a romanesque basilica stood in the thirteenth century. Unfortunately that original church burnt down. When a gothic church was constructed it was smaller than the present one. Ruprech III had the building enlarged to the present size....More

This is a very large cathedral dating back to 1398 when construction began. I highly recommend climbing the Bell Tower for great views of Altstadt and Heidelberg Castle. I think it cost 2 Euro for an adult and climb is challenging but worth it.

To go in is free but it's 2€ a person to climb up to the top of the church. It is worth it. The view is amazing.

The exterior of the church is more impressive than the interior. Unfortunately I did not know you could climb the tower as that's have probably changed my thoughts on the visit and provided a better review.

If you have 30 min before dinner it will be nice to go up with the stairs and watch the nice scenery.

Interior of church nothing special, but 2 euro entry to climb to top of tower well worth the effort - view is terrific.

We visited this church in the center of Heidelberg, then attended an organ concert later on in the late afternoon. This is fully working church, not just a tourist trap. It is relatively plain in decoration, but the stained glass windows are superb-look for the...More
