One must take the ride to the castle and hill top when visiting Heidelberg. The cable car services costs 12 euros resound trio and makes two stops in total - one at the midway (castle), and one at the hill top. One can get cheaper...More

Always fun to take a cable train, especially if you go with a historical funicular. The Königstuhl funicular goes very slowly, but at the steepest point the railway has a 43 % gradiënt ! On the top there is a small café with a terrace...More

The views are fantastic at the top are fantastic on a nice clear day. Nice open air cafe at the top and there are displays of raptors which the kids will love. Can be very busy so allow plenty of time to buy tickets etc.

I don't see why people would complain about the ride. I did enjoy the feeling of being transported like 100 yrs ago. And the views are an absolut phebomenal asset. The ride takes a bit longer but it is a historical train. If you rush...More

I so much wasted time that I could have spent in the beautiful castle. Going to the top takes forever and you just turn around and come back down. The views are better from the castle level because things are not too far.

We took this funicular from the Castle down to the Old City. This is the modern section of the two-section railway, built originally in 1890. It is about one-third of a mile long and just takes a few minutes to reach your destination.

If I read it correctly they have been operating for over 117 years on the upper portion. The view is lovely up there (bring a picnic lunch!). They DO pack you into the cars because its a fairly long trip and there's not a lot...More

Since we did not want to walk up the hill to the castle, my husband and I decided to take the Bergbahn. The weather was decent, so we bought the extra ticket to go to the top of the mountain. My husband's fear of heights...More

As I mentioned in my review, the Kornmarkt/Schloss multistory car park is just round the corner of the funicular base station. and also steps from the Marktplatz, the center of Heidelberg. A visit to the castle is... More
