When walking along the Danube river and the old city wall, sooner or later you will pass the Metzgerturm (Butcher’s Tower). Since its wooden foundation has rotted away it became a (slightly) leaning tower. Its gate is one of the acess points to the historical...More

Considering the age of this tower (1345) and all the wars it has seen I think a slight perpendicular slant should be pardoned.

The twisted butchers tower was a fun find. Its situated along the Danube river where there are many bike riders and joggers. There are benches along the river walk to sit and enjoy the view.

This is one of the best access points to the Ulm city walls. Great for photos with the pretty roof tiles and visible tilt to the structure. Turn left as you come on to the wall and walk down to the wall top rose gardens.

The Metzgerturm has a special history, and since it is crooked, it's a special landmark in Ulm. Unfortunately you cannot go inside.
