Very nice salt mine - all year open to visit, out of the season best to see it, less people inside the mine

Great trip...took a conducted tour through panorama tours to the Bavarian region to the salt mines..superb experience..the guided tour inside the mines took about an hour and the highlight was the wooden slides..and the mine train...well worth a visit...

I would have never expected salt coming out from mines. Something very educational. With a tour via train into the depths of the mine, some slides to go deeper under. Overall good. And buy some salt there too.

We were told in advance that the lines to get into the mines is very long and you can waste a lot of time so we took the Tour with Panorama tours. They get the tickets before hand so you don't have to wait. Its about an hour's drive from Salzburg and if you are a WWII buff you can... More

It's very well run round trip in the mines. If You have never been in a mine, this is a place go. We had a bad weather this day so this was a very good option. Remember to book in advance, this was very popular the day we visited.

We really enjoyed the tour of the salt mine with the train ride underground followed by the two slides and the boat ride. A lot of the technical stuff went over my head but an enjoyable hour nonetheless.

The experience of sitting on the open wagons of the small train, through narrow dark tunnels is awesome. Our guide was good to explain the history of the salt mines, though only in German. Fascinating light show inside the mine, and tasting the salty water was exciting! The tour includes a lot of information and fun facts, as well as... More

We booked our tickets a few days ahead so we would not have to wait in line. We arrived on time and were placed into the next tour. We were given mining suits, one piece suits and got situated on a long narrow train that took us down into the salt mine/cave. The train was really fun, but wow, if... More

These mines have a great sense of drama being so deep in the mountain and so steeped in history. We enjoyed the guide and most of the time the audio was adeaquate for English speakers ( except in the salt lab section ) and the mood was adventurous. The wooden slide sections are some fun and the walking is not... More
