The court garden is a generously sized landscaped park between the Coburg Fortress and Schlossplatz (Palace Square). The court garden was built during the reign of Duke Albrecht of Saxony-Coburg, and dates back to the baroque era. Many monuments are found there, as well as the mausoleum of the dukes.

Walking through this Englishesque garden to/from the Veste Coburg is lovely. But you can also wander around with no agenda. The lush park offers a rose garden, garden pavilions (built in 1754), a fountain, a WWII memorial, statue, numerous trees, etc. It's very large, beautiful, simple and tranquil. I imagine it's dog friendly as I noticed many people walking their... More

If you want to visit Veste Coburg, the large fortress above the town, the walking route takes you through the Hofgarten, and there is enough going on there to distract you for a while, from statues to small buildings to views of the town below. There were lots of people just walking and jogging through it, as well as children... More

This huge park separates the town of Coburg from the Veste fortress. In summer it is a great place to just sit and enjoy the sunshine and in winter it is great for sledging. There is a children's playground, an art pavilion, the natural history museum and just lots of space!

The Hofgarten is a wonderful park for an evening stroll or a great hike to the Veste Coburg. If you have children there are several play areas with great structures.

The Hofgarten looks very much like a typical English park, with much space, green lawn and big old trees. You have a good view from there to the old town, as it is on a higher level. It is all up (or down) hill and you can use its paths to walk up to the caste Veste Coburg (about 20-30... More
