I have now been traveling in Europe for over 25 years and have been enjoying several visits to München. But the city hall and the Mayor is so full of themselves that they are not even contactable on issues like this! The reason I say...More

It’s easy to forget Munich’s medieval past but this gateway serves as a reminder of what was. It’s close by the river (hence the name) and offers a tantalising glimpse of history. Well worth a look

We stumbled on this amazing piece of history. It is very close to the main shopping street and worth the walk to see this lovely historical set of buildings.

This gate to the old medieval city wall is one of 3 still standing. But more importantly, there is a giant cauldron of fire during the Christmas season! The Feuerzangenbowle is located at Isartor serving a gluhwein that'll knock you off your feet.

Although there is not much to see, there is some nice architecture. Nearby is one of the best English speaking bike shops (Guten Bike). It is also nearby Deutsche Museum (a technical museum, not a history museum).

Vienna has it Innerstadt and so has Munich, just that it is called the Altstadt, the Old City. It is a ring with several gates leading to its central Square or Platz, here it is Marienplatz. 2 of these gates are Karls Gate (Karlstor) and...More

It's nice to look when you're in the area. If I understood this well, this is one of the 3 gates of the Munich fortress that remained from the city walls.
