The Hofgarten is a pleasant place to dodge the crowds of the nearby Marienplatz . But if you really want to get away, go a bit farther north to the massive English garden.(see separate entry). ---Bob & Ellie Tupper, authors, “Drinking In the Culture, Tuppers’...More

Hofgarten is the court garden just north of Residenz and one of the much needed green spaces in the city of Munich. It was built in the early 17th century. Here you will find a nicely laid out and manicured garden with an interesting centre...More

This is a peaceful garden, loads of benches around the fountains. You could grab a book and sit and relax here.

This is a small formal garden just outside the Residenz. In the center is the Diana temple. Several benches to sit on and relax. Just outside the park on the Odeonsplatz there are both Men's and Women's restrooms (go down the stairs).

Basically next to English Garden, it can be a stop over if you are walking towards English Garden from the Odeonsplatz like me. The Deutsches Theatermuseum is right next to it, got some nice photos here!

This park is ideal for people wanting to find a green space to escape the city centre. The park is a lot smaller than the English Garden and more manicured. A lovely park to relax in.

Seems very popular with the locals. You can get a meal there if you wish, great for people watching.

Need a little downtime away from the mass of people, attractions, etc? This garden has a restaurant, benches, historic landmarks, and green grass. I like to take a piece of shade under a tree, remove my shoes, and enjoy the sounds of the birds. Great...More

Nothing spectacular this inviting garden next to the Residenz provides a quick respite after the dull exploration of the Residenz Museum. Grab a snack and sit on one of the many benches or lawn areas to take in a few moments of sun. I would...More
