I could stay for days looking at all the buildings

Regensburg has so much history. I should have stayed one more night just to see all the sites and beautiful buildings and churches. If you travel to Germany, don't miss Regensburg.

We spent several trips back to this place. It's wonderful to walk around the city for hours, so much to see. It's been restored to pre-war era and is complete with medieval churches, clock towers, bridges and of course great beer! The bridge has great history, so much history hear it's hard to write much. Lovely place.

This was a stop on our Avalon River Cruise although it was a hour and a half bus ride from our moorings in Passau. Regensburg is one of Germany's best preserved medieval cities because it was not bombed during WW11. Funny thing started our trip. We were let off at a meeting place and told there was free bathrooms before... More

We love history so we always like an overview of the places we visit. This museum gave a nice overview with dates, explanations of daily life and insights into the city. It gave a great overview without overwhelming you withink dates and names and facts. It is free and an English audio guide is only €1.

An interesting feature of Regensburg is that it is filled with “merchant towers”, These tower houses are found throughout the city and date from the 11th to 14th centuries. The wealthy families built in the Middle Ages built these towers as a status symbol and as a means of fortification for self-defense. The more important the family was, the higher... More

The welcome center is open from 10 to 7 every day -- even Sundays! On an oppressively hot or rainy day, this is a good place to send your guests for 90 minutes or so. Many of the exhibits are accessible to touch, or open up, in addition to being seen and heard.

Do not bother to step into this building. Regensburg has so much to offer for history loving tourist; prepare the visit to Regensburg at home using the Internet. The "Besucherszentrum" has nothing significant to add in my opinion.

Then the Besucherzentrum is your place. The friendly staff at the one and only desk is helpful and provides relevant information - if you know what to ask for. You can buy brochures and Info Materials and get pointers on where to go to buy more.. Not much Regensburg Info around. The globe display is somewhat irritating and less then... More

Not only is this treasure steeped in medieval history, Regensburg was for me the highlight day trip of our Danube River cruise this past June. Although not a high energy big city, Regensburg offers architecture and ambiance not seen elsewhere and a powerful vibe that continues to haunt and lure me back again. This town is special in that it... More
