This museum is really excellent with the history of textiles, and especially the history around Augsburg (I guess it used to be a large textile area). It is not so big, but there is also a very good restaurant there, and they have temporary exhibits as well. Worth a visit if you like the history of clothing.

Have been to this museum 3 years ago and it obviously went downwards, regarding the openness and friendliness of the institution. It is a well thought through concept with great and fresh design approach, although I really hate, when they bug you with no photo (in German of course) - it's national heritage, since they are a state museum -... Went there with my husband, and both of us got more than we expected from a museum - information on fabrics, on history, on design, on technics and much more, beautifully prestented. Also recommended for kids, they can join in and try out.

This museum was so interesting. It went on and on with the history and development of different fibers--like cotton, wool, and linen as well as how weaving developed through the years. the exhibition covering costume design and clothing throughout the years was so interesting. AND there s a great restaurant in the museum.

Having previously worked in the at the time world leading textile industry in Augsburg the museum depicts a great heritage and is interesting. They used an old derelict industrial building that once housed the worlds biggest weaving factory. Easy to reach from the centre, and just a few minutes from the City Gallerie Shopping Center, which itself is built on... More

First off - someone has gone to great trouble to hide this place. We picked up a brochure in our hotel and saw that this looked interesting. Then we lost the brochure - bad move. We knew the general direction and headed that way figuring that it couldn't be that hard to find, or people would know about it. We... More

There are three reasons why it is worthwhile visiting this museum: 1. It has a nice narrative: The museum tells the history of the textile production in Augsburg and explains the production process in an interesting and yet compact manner. 2. It has a great design; in particular the giant mannequins on which the visitor can project different tissues, are... More

its bit far from the centrum but they have strassen bahn (tram) to get here from the centrum. the building is just like industrial building that they use for gallery, they have nice collection of how textil industry are before and after the war in Augsburg. if you lucky they have a work shop for knitting etc.
