We heard about the tour from our Hostel. We did the 6 hour tour. We were a small group so we started with one guide for half the day and than met up with another guide with a larger group to finish. We had Jonathan, he was very informative and also loved the jokes! It was a very fun and... More

We went on the Free Express tour and our guide Polly was fantastic! Great historical insights but also encouraged discussions on the group's reception. One of the best walking tours we've been on. A must-do in Berlin! Dress appropriately if cold!

Sam is a fantastic guide. You can tell he has a deep appreciation for the history of Berlin. He injects humor into the tour when appropriate, and gets people involved throughout. During a 3 hour tour in the snow he was enthralling and thorough the entire time. Highly recommended!

We had a blast on this tour, learned a ton about Berlin and its history and loved our tour guide Sam! Despite it being quite cold and snowing during our 3 1/2 tour, we were entertained and enthralled the whole time.

Went on the free walking tour with Sam and I would absolutely recommend it! He was incredibly knowledgable about the history of Berlin and told us everything we could ever want to know. He was funny and a genuinely friendly guy, and it was obvious that he was really interested in the subject matter. If you have the opportunity, definitely... More

Jonathan was informative, hilarious, and always entertaining. The time flew by and we saw and learned so much about Berlin. A fantastic overview--we're so glad we did this the first afternoon of our arrival!

Our guide Preston was excellent throughout the whole tour. He was very informative and had a great depth of knowledge. The weather was a tad chilly but I didn't really notice it as he took your mind if it with his stories. Highly recommended.

My 2 friends & I took the 6 hour walking tour with Johnathan. It was absolutely fantastic. Since we only had 2 days in Berlin, we were able to hit most of the hot spots and see as much of Berlin as we could in the time we had there! Johnathan was very helpful and very knowledgeable about Berlin. Not... More

This was definitely one of the best walking tours I have ever been on. Sam was super knowledgable and easy going. If it wasn't so chilly I could have easily done a longer tour with Sam. So much history to learn about in this sexy city. Definitely recommend Brewers for a tour in Berlin.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
