Everyone has heard of this icon, a must see location on your trip to Berlin. Take the time to wander and absorb the atmosphere whatever the weather. Can be a little off putting if there is demonstration going on there, which seems to happen often, but if necessary pop back later. The Berlin Pavilion cafe a short stroll through the... More

Exploring the Brandenburg Gate is really very beautiful at night. It 's very close to the Holocaust Memorial so it makes for a lovely walk! Definitely a worthwhile spot to check out in Berlin.

Beautiful bit of architecture. Surrounded by many embassies, the reichtag and within a short walk from the holocaust memorial potsdam platz and pretty much most of the tourists attractions. Photo opportunity while your in berlin without all the crowds of most cities. Also big fan of the dunkin' doughnuts down the road from here

A must see:) read the history boards for good info. Couldn't believe Napolean dismantled this and took it home to Paris as war booty. Quick walk to other locations.

Located near the Underground of Brandenburg Tor when you exit surrounded by embassies is the Brandenburg gate, I would suggest for photo opportunities come early morning and also come for a shot in the evening when it is all lit up, also the crowds are quieter then, this is situated near Victory Column and the Reichstad Building

This is possibly my favourite place to sit and relax at the Starbucks opposite and just take in the view! Every time I visit Berlin, I do this! It is a truly amazing structure and not to be missed

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
